“Traditional Pansori storytelling performance” is an original Pansori performance that tells the story of the restoration of Gyeongbokgung Palace

"Dear Moon (Dalha Nopigom Dodasha)"

The royal court of Joseon, Gyeongbokgung Palace, built in 1395…

Gyeongbokgung Palace was born, showcasing the birth of a new dynasty.

However, the palace had endured a difficult fate, despite its grand start.

Engulfed in flames from the Imjin War,

the people of Joseon wept day and night seeing the palace built with blood and sweat burn into ashes.

There were those that vividly remember the sorrowful sight.

The devastation and reconstruction many times again

The stories of those that remember live on to tell the resilience of the palace.

The resilience of Gyeongbokgung Palace that still stands in the heart of Seoul in 2023,

the tragic tale of Gyeongbokgung Palace unfolds in Pansori.

<Performance Location> Heungbokjeon Hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace

Heungbokjeon Hall in Gyeongbokgung Palace was constructed during the reconstruction of Gyeongbokgung Palace (1866 – 1867) under the reign of King Gojong serving the purpose of royal meetings, receptions for foreign envoys, and consultations with court officials.

During the Japanese colonial period, it was dismantled (1917) for the purpose of using its wooden materials in the restoration of Changdeokgung Palace's Daejojeon Hall. It was only in 2019, after a century, Heungbokjeon Hall was restored through the royal palace renovation project.
